About the Series
The Good Neighbors Math Series was created in 2009 to explicitly address concepts and skills within the Number and Operations in Base Ten domain of the Common Core Learning Standards. The author believes base ten blocks are one of the most effective tools to help children acquire number and operations concepts and skills. The narratives provide engagement, a schema and scaffolding for various concepts and skills, while the colorful illustration provide base ten visual models essential to conceptually understanding these concepts and skills.
There are currently three books in the series: The Good Neighbors Store an Award – A Cheesy Mouse Tale of Addition with Regrouping, The Good Neighbors’ Cheese Feast – A Cheesy Mouse Tale of Subtraction with Regrouping, and Onesie’s Odd Job – A Cheesy Tale of Even and Odd.
The Primary Backline Masters address basic place value skills that are not yet addressed in the series’ books. The Upper Elementary Backline Masters address more advanced place value skills that are not yet addressed in the series’ books.
